OurChurch is seeking applications for a fun, passionate and motivated Cafe Manager to launch and grow The Junction Cafe into a place where people can slow down and connect with themselves, God and one another.

This role will begin as one day per week with the potential to expand to full time, based on demand.
Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Function & Role:
As The Junction Cafe Manager you are primarily responsible to organise daily operations, manage staff and volunteers, and provide excellent food and beverages, customer service and a space where the community can connect.
This is a growth position, starting as a hands-on barista/manager, with the potential to grow to managing multiple staff.
The Junction Cafe is a key part of the vision of OurChurch to see community renewal where mission and discipleship take place for city transformation. As such, a heart that pursues God and a passion for extending God’s Kingdom is a must.
Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe
Train new wait staff and baristas and manage staff and volunteer rosters
Train employees and volunteers on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment
Coordinate with vendors and order supplies, as needed (like takeaway cups, coffee, milk and other ingredients)
Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenues and expenses in conjunction with the OurChurch finance team
Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers’ preferences
Advise staff and volunteers on the best ways to resolve issues with clients and deliver excellent customer service
Ensure all cafe areas are clean and tidy
Oversee advertising and promotion of the cafe
Oversee the policies and procedures and workplace health and safety for the cafe
Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation
As a staff member you are expected to regularly attend church experiences and engage in an intentional small group.
Engage in regular personal SOAP devotions and journaling and be able to model this to those in your team.
Encourage the cafe team to serve according to the OurChurch values as outlined on the website. We want to be a team who serves with the skill of our hands and integrity of heart. Psalm 78:72 “And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skilful hands he led them.”

Agreement with the OurChurch Mission, Strategy, Vision, Values and Statement of Faith as outlined on the website
Work experience as a Cafe Manager or Barista
Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines
Good maths skills
Availability to work within opening hours (including weekends and holidays)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
Customer service attitude
Eye for details and the ability to control workflow
Willingness to learn and grow
Food safety supervisor certificate
