WISDOM

SCRIPTURE: James 3:14-16 “But if you harbour bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.”

OBSERVATION: When there is turmoil, evil practice and disorder going on, it is because people are not operating from true wisdom; this comes only from God. They are operating out of their own worldly wisdom; which is not spiritual and comes from an unregenerate human heart, or from Satan himself. Our own best thinking does not suffice as it does not come from the kingdom, it comes from the systems of this world and/or our family of origin. To operate in God’s true wisdom, we need to seek Him.

APPLICATION: It requires good discernment to know whether the disorder is coming out of people’s brokenness – which can be worked through – or from evil that is hindering the good that God is doing. When things go to turmoil and get chaotic we need God’s wisdom, otherwise things will only go from bad to worse. Where I have God’s wisdom, His peace, presence and power will follow.

PRAYER: Father, help me to always access wisdom from above.
