An Ambulance for Ghana

Tomorrow, the 5th July, will mark 2 years since the HOPE Medical Centre was officially commissioned and opened in Dabaa, Ghana.

A day that Ps Anne and I will never forget....

What an honour it was to be there, representing OurChurch, and joining with the 300 other guests from the Ghana Health Authority (Government), the Village Chief, contractors, press, our partner Church, Harvesters Evangelistic Ministry, and of course the villagers who came together to celebrate an amazing gift to Dabaa and its surrounding communities. It was incredible to meet the people in the community directly benefiting from the project, to hear them speak with excitement and joy about the way this project would transform their community and save lives.

We will never forget seeing with our eyes the dream we had seen in our hearts for 6 years.....

Through the generosity of so many, the Hope Medical Centre is making a real difference. No longer do children in this region have to die from preventable diseases.

The focus of the Hope Medical Centre is maternal health, pre and post natal care, and emergency medical assistance. It offers a staff including doctors, nurses, midwives, community health educators and pharmacists and consists of consulting rooms, an operating theatre, recovery rooms (20 short stay beds), a laboratory and dispensary.

We are leaving a legacy of ongoing health.

You can read more about the journey of the Hope Medical Centre in OurChurch's ALL IN Magazine.

The dream continues....

The last season has seen us work towards our goal of seeing an ambulance released for the Hope Medical Centre, providing an essential service for the surrounding community.

With incredible support from Ubuntu through Health, and a lot of fundraising and work on their side, this dream is also nearly a reality!

As expected, the paperwork and tax exemptions have taken a little longer than usual, but the result is a fantastic, well equipped vehicle which will make an incredible impact in the community.

At a total cost of $32,000 ($AUS), an ambulance has been quoted through Mitsubishi and the final confirmation of the fit out of the ambulance is being finalised next week.

At this stage, we are approx $3000 short of the required funds ($29,000 has been raised).

We are asking for your help!

We have one week to see the funds released for the following essential fit out items for the ambulance :

Light bar with two flashing beacons (red), siren & PA System $1815

First Aid Kit (Comprehensive) $308

Fire Extinguisher (1 kg) $48

Ambulance Signage (Red Cross on doors, rear, & hood)  $261

Roof Lamps x 2  $178

Infusion Rail (2 hooks for perfusion)  $226

Ambulance Attendant seating (2 persons)  $308

This is a total of $3144.

We are believing that these funds will be released and the fully equipped ambulance will be ordered next week, fitted out, and on its way to the Hope Medical Centre.

If you would like to make a donation towards any of the above items, we would love to hear from you!
