WE GET BETTER TOGETHER

19/8/20

SCRIPTURE: 1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

OBSERVATION: If we profess that we have fellowship with God yet still walk in the deeds of darkness, we are lying and fellowship is not truly taking place. But if we profess that we have fellowship with God and we do walk in the light with Him, then the light of eternal life with Jesus will enable us to have true fellowship with God and with one another - becoming cleansed of our sins by the blood of Christ as we live in communion with God and others.

APPLICATION: I must remember that just saying ‘I love God’ is not enough. If I am in true fellowship with Him, I won’t be walking in the deeds of darkness but rather I will be walking in His light. By being in fellowship with God and walking in His light, it means I am also to be in fellowship with others. Living in genuine community with one another allows the blood of Christ to purify us together as we continue our journey of being conformed to the image of Christ.

PRAYER: Father, help me to not resist fellowship with you or the 'one anothers' so that I may reach my full potential in this life. Amen.

At OurChurch, we follow the Life Journal Reading Plan and use the SOAP journaling method - Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. Download a booklet here for some tips on how you can get started.
